Pakistan Shines on the International Stage as Journalist Honored at CIPCC 2025
ISLAMABAD: Renowned Pakistani journalist Dr. Irfan Ashraf has been honored with the Outstanding Participant Award by the Public Diplomacy Association of China at the China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC) 2025.
The award was presented during the closing ceremony of CIPCC 2025 held in Beijing, which was graced by China’s Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hong Lei, as the chief guest. In his speech, Hong Lei also mentioned Dr. Irfan Ashraf’s insightful remarks about China’s governance system, appreciating his understanding and perspective.
Dr. Irfan’s remarkable address on the Chinese system of governance earned him wide recognition among international participants.
Dr. Irfan Ashraf was selected for this distinction from among participants representing Asia-Pacific countries, marking a significant achievement for Pakistan on an international stage. Pakistan’s name shone brightly among Asia-Pacific nations — the award dedicated to Pakistan.
Dr. Irfan Ashraf was nominated by the Government of Pakistan in August 2025 to take part in the prestigious CIPCC programme, organized under the auspices of the China Public Diplomacy Association.
The CIPCC 2025 programme offered a comprehensive study of China’s governance system, poverty alleviation, industrial and agricultural development, education, tourism, healthcare, foreign policy, and the role of media. Alongside academic sessions, participants visited several Chinese provinces to gain firsthand insights into China’s governance and development models.
This year’s programme brought together 103 journalists and political figures from 93 countries, fostering cross-cultural understanding and global media cooperation.
Speaking after the ceremony, Dr. Irfan Ashraf dedicated the award to his parents and the people of Pakistan, calling it a moment of national pride to represent Pakistan at such a prestigious international forum. He expressed his gratitude to China for promoting global dialogue and reaffirmed that the Pakistan–China friendship will continue to strengthen in the years ahead.
