By early Wednesday morning on November 5, 2024, millions of Americans, cast ballots that finalized Donald J. Trump’s notable comeback. Trump took the lead with 295 votes, while Kamala Harris, the candidate from Democrat received 226 votes. Now, Trump will be the 47th president of the United States of America (USA).
Vice President Kamala Harris and Democratic presidential nominee commended supporters to accept the 2024 presidential election results and committed to a peaceful transfer of power following Donald Trump’s win. In a concession speech on November 5, Harris said “While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign.” Harris accepted election to Trump, and vowed to continue fighting for women’s rights and against gun violence.
On November 6, in a Florida Ballroom on stage gazing out at a sea of supporters, Trump enjoyed the pleasant moment of triumph. He was encircled by advisers, party leaders, family and friends, which he had daydreamt of for four years. Trump said, “We’ve achieved the most incredible political thing.” “America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate,” said Trump.
While highlighting key themes of his campaign, like cracking down on immigration and revitalize apparently failing economy under President Joe Biden, Trump assured, “We’re going to fix our borders.” He further said, “We’re going to fix everything about our country.”
With the vote of thanks to his supporters Trump said, “We’re gonna pay you back. Together we can truly make America great again for all Americans. I will not let you down. America’s future will be bigger, better, bolder, richer, safer, and stronger than it has ever been before.”
The majority of Americans in key swing states chose to vote for him, because economy and immigration were the main concern for many. According to the US presidential election result map most of the state in the South, Midwest, and Northwest turned red and voted Republican Donald Trump. Harris won states in the Northeast, along the West Coast and also Colorado and Illinois. States with purple colour (battleground states) showed Trump took lead in Arizona and Nevada.
After the results are announced, Trump has received congratulations from the world leaders. However, it will take days or even weeks for the detailed election results to be confirmed officially in every state of USA. He will take the oath of office at the presidential inauguration on January 20,2025, and will officially assume the power and responsibilities of the presidency.
The first presidential term of Trump was marked by trade wars, isolationism and a deep uncertainty towards European Union (EU) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
