In the global landscape of construction and investment, one name stands out—China State Construction Engineering Corporation, the world’s largest construction and investment group. In 1984, CSCEC entered the Pakistani market, beginning a partnership that has lasted over four decades.
In 2005, the CSCEC Pakistan Branch Office was formally established, becoming a strategic turning point for business expansion in the country. CSCEC has delivered a number of influential projects such as The Centaurus Mixed Use Building in Islamabad, the Arfa Software Technology Park in Lahore, the Royal Thai Embassy, the new dormitory building of the Chinese Embassy, and the Chinese Consulate General in Karachi, etc.
Among all these achievements, three landmark projects emerge as symbols of CSCEC’s excellence.
JF-17 Aircraft Manufacturing Factory — comprised 22 factory buildings and facilities, serving as a core hub of China-Pakistan defense cooperation and strategic self-reliance.
Islamabad International Airport — Pakistan’s largest and most advanced airport, covering nearly 200,000 square meters. Operational since May 2018, it handles 15 million passengers annually.
PKM Motorway (Sukkur to Multan), also known as M5 —a 392-kilometer, six-lane, dual-carriageway motorway designed for 120 km/h with the most advanced intelligent system. It has reduced travel time from 11 hours to less than 4 hours. As a flagship project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, it has boosted local economic development, employment and professional training, embodying the vision of “One Road, One Family.”
All these projects received top honors in China’s engineering industry — the Overseas Luban Prize. M5 also received top quality credentials from China’s Construction Association—the Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize, and the National Quality Engineering Gold Award.
Since 2024, CSCEC has been expanding its project portfolio across Pakistan with several major undertakings.
The Emaar Park Edge Project in Karachi — two 43-story towers, each 152 meters tall, plus a podium. It is the tallest residential project in Karachi to date, funded by Emaar from U.A.E., the world’s largest real-estate developer.
Karachi Garbage Transfer Station Project — funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and divided into two sections, covering 150,000 square meters. It is Karachi’s first solid waste treatment project in Sindh Province.
The Karachi Jam Chakro Sanitary Landfill Project — the largest solid waste treatment facility in Pakistan, also funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The Rawalpindi Water Supply System Improvement Project — funded by the World Bank (WB). Once completed, it will provide clean drinking water for 3 million people, greatly alleviating the region’s water shortage.
The Thar Coalfield Block-I Open-pit Mine Project — a key energy project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor framework. As part of one of the Pakistan’s largest coal mining and power generation complexes.
For more than four decades, CSCEC has delivered more than projects —it has also strengthened the all-weather strategic partnership and brotherhood between China and Pakistan. Brotherhood between nations, between communities, and between people. CSCEC remains committed to deepening cooperation and contributing even more to the prosperity and development of Pakistan.
